Welcome to Doug's Astronomy Pages

Although I haven't been involved in astronomy and astrophotography very long, I seem to be hooked.
(Just ask my wife)
On these pages I'd like to share some of my favorite things about amateur astronomy.
Just what could make someone stay up the whole night, out in the cold?
What would possess a person to do something that would make their friends and neighbors think they've lost their mind?
When you look up in the sky and take in all wonder of the heavens, you'll know.

The Milky way area around Cygnus 10/05 12 minutes of exposures with a Canon 300D
What can be seen with the naked eye is truly breath taking.
What you can see if you use a telescope is truly amazing.

M13 the Hercules Globular Cluster 22 minutes of exposure with a canon 300D and 80mm refractor
But if you add a good camera to mix you can see things you might never have thought possible.
From Galaxies far far away,

M31 the Andromeda Galaxy 40 minutes of exposure with a Canon 3005 and 80mm refractor
To things not nearly as far away,

The Great Orion Nebula M42 about 45 minutes of exposure with a Canon 30D and 80mm refractor
To things right in our neighborhood.
